AU-GN Services Upgrade

7 posts in this topic

Hello Everyone,

I am here writing to everyone that users any of Australian Gaming Network services will see upgrades and downtime over the fore coming holiday period. We are scheduling this to be in middle of the night to have the least impacting downtime but during this time we are moving our servers to a new powerful node as we require more space. The follow is our schedule and task list to perform this upgrade

1. Move all web services to new SSD based server
2. Move Garry's Mod server to new node for temporary holding
3. Uninstall Linux based container
4. Install Windows Server on game server node to allow for more customisable addons on the server (This also allows developers to easily create new content for you).
5. Transfer back the garry's mod server and configure it to Windows deployment
6. Ensure web transfer databases connect back to game server
7. A lot of background stuff

During these times we appreciate if you hold non important conversations until after the works are complete to Lewis, Spextic and Myself as if we are stuck answering questions that could wait it would intern keep the servers down for a longer period of time.

Just to note after the this upgrade is complete there will be no IP address change or anything of that nature we are simply fixing a system that cannot keep up to our requirements and causes to much maintenance.

REASON FOR UPGRADE: LOW DISK SPACE, CHANGE OF OPERATING SYSTEM

IMPACT: MINOR

RESOLUTION TIME: 3 HOURS PER STAGE

SERVICE IMPACT TIME: 10-12 HOURS (ALL SERVICES)

EMERGENCY CONTACT: DISCORD OR STEAM PRIVATE MESSAGES

This thread is open for any questions regarding this. We are expecting to do this on the 26/27 this month

Thanks
Derf

Update:

All Web Services have been moved to the new node. We are currently making multiple backup of the game server before permanent termination is created and there is no going back.

I will post updates regularly
